Wednesdays | 9:30 am to 11:00 am
For Parents & Carers
Offered: Weekly (during each term)
Location: Parents Room, Paradise Kids Building
At Paradise Kids we believe in supporting your parenting journey. With our Parent Support Group we have created a safe place for you to share you parenting concerns, discuss issues and be encouraged. You are most welcome to join us! Download our Parent Support Group Flyer at bottom of page for more information.
The first step of our process is an Initial Support Interview. The interview provides a place for you to discuss with our Parent Facilitator what your needs are and the best way we can provide the help you and your family needs. We recommend that you write down any questions and concerns you may have beforehand so you can discuss these at the interview. We do Initial Support Interviews twice a week, mainly as a small group setting with other parents and no children. In special circumstances we will provide an individual support interview. After discussion with our parent facilitator, your child is placed on a waiting list for the next available group in the following term. They can also have individual grief counselling or can be referred to a professional whilst awaiting child's placement in the Paradise Kids program. Please download and return the completed Program Enquiry Web Form to begin the process of help, or contact us on: (07) 5574 6853.
Fees & Placements
Payment of fees are due two weeks before the term starts. Due to the demand of our programs, places often fill quickly. Your placement in our programs is only secure after payment of fees have been made. If you pay for a program but do not attend, no refund will be given. Cancellations made prior to the start of the program will be assessed and refunded at the discretion of management. All of our programs are held over several weeks so it is important to attend all weeks. If two weeks or more are missed, the program may have to be re-taken to graduate at your own expense.
As Paradise Kids is a psycho-educational group program we do not keep transcripts for court or legal issues. Paradise Kids takes great care to ensure your privacy, we are well aware that there may be issues between parents and/or third parties and information is to be kept private and not be freely shared.
During each group session refreshments are provided for the children and adults. It is important to advise us if there are any food allergies or food restrictions present.
Paradise Kids volunteers are specially trained and thoroughly checked before being allowed to work with children. Our programs are conducted in a group environment and supervision is constant. All our volunteers receive comprehensive training through our Grief Counselling Course with a Focus on Children and Grief provided by Hopewell Education Services (including the Art Therapy and Working with Children’s Art components).
