Volunteering with Us

The incredible support of our volunteers is what keeps the heart of Hopewell alive. We have many volunteers giving of their time and talents, enabling us to provide a professional and caring service. In turn, many of our volunteers find personal enrichment through being part of the community of care that serves people of all ages. If you would like to become a vital part of a well respected and highly regarded organisation then we would love to hear from you, as we have a wide range of volunteering opportunities on offer.

Our Process

Initially all enquiries about volunteering go to our Volunteer Coordinator, Margo Amundsen. Margo works on Monday and Wednesday mornings so please give her a call on 5574 6853 to have a brief discussion on volunteering with us. The next step is to come to Hopewell and have an Informal Interview with Margo. During this interview she will explain:

  • The structure of the organisation and all the services provided;
  • The areas of volunteering available;
  • The requirements before starting;
  • The training offered and the mandatory training.

Margo will then show you around and give you all the required paperwork including an Application Form and possible Police Check or Blue Card depending on the area you volunteer in. The last step is to return all completed forms and participate in our Workplace Health & Safety Training held on the first Monday of each month. WHS Training Information

On the Job Training

All new volunteers will receive on the job training. No new volunteer starts without ‘buddying’ with an experienced volunteer. This is to help guide you in your new role. During this time Margo will keep in contact with you to see how you are progressing, address any issues that may arise and above all make sure you are happy in your volunteer role.

Areas of Volunteering

Paradise Kids Buddy
PK Buddies work alongside the children participating in our groups to provide each child individual support. There are specific requirements for this role. For everything you need to know on becoming a PK Buddy visit our Buddy Corner.

Male Role Models
Our boys group requires male role models. Like the PK Buddies, this role has specific requirements. Paradise Kids believes that it is very important for boys to interact with kind hearted men of high integrity. It is how a boy learns to become a good man. The men who work with the boys come from all areas of life and include tradesmen, professionals, students as well as men who have retired. What they do have in common is personal integrity and a commitment to supporting boys to grow into good men. The men model a form of masculinity that demonstrates strength, integrity, compassion and respect.

Support Roles
Paradise Kids has various needs in the areas of Administration & Reception Duties * Garden & Maintenance * Fundraising & Events * Outreach & Illness Support Help.

Simply Divine Cafe
Our cafe relies on faithful volunteers who know how to provide great hospitality. Many of our cafe volunteers have gone on to get work in cafes and while we are sad at our loss of a good volunteer, we rejoice that we can also help people on their workplace journeying. Full training is provided along with barista style coffee training.
