As this years celebrated Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show ends, Gold Coast Children’s Charity Paradise Kids is celebrating the good will and generosity of the Gold Coast Boating Community. Paradise Kids was chosen by Ian Swan of Swan Super Lines as their charity of choice at his Out of the Blue networking and social event, hosted in partnership with Mick Ellison of Mano’s Restaurant on Tedder Avenue Main Beach.
Swan Super Lines is one of the most respected boating solutions brands in the country established during the GFC and growing from strength to strength. It’s annual ‘Out of the Blue’ showcase event saw VIPS, clients, guests, sponsors and boating industry colleagues attend an evening of fine cuisine, a fun atmosphere and entertainment for which Mano’s is renowned.
“It was an incredible night of good will, not only from the guests but the very generous Prize Donors”, states Paradise Kids founder Deirdre Hanna, “In less than two hours, Ian and his guests raised enough money to support a family through our illness support program”. The illness support program is offered to a family impacted with the stress and trauma of having a child living with a life limited illness.
It is offered to families living interstate or in rural Qld. We are able to accommodate them here on the coast and offer counselling support, but importantly quality family time, with tickets to theme parks, dinners out and many of the local experiences. We find it’s often the first time these families get a break with parents also being offered a night out on their own with our staff available to care for the children. This break offers a relaxing holiday but also gives them some inner life skills to sustain them over the next part of their lives, living with a child whose life is limited.
Ian Swan said that his reason for choosing Paradise Kids was because, “Because I have personally seen the great work done first hand both with the Hospice as well as with Paradise Kids. The staff and the volunteers are amazing and they all deserve all the support they can get from the community”, Deirdre Hanna said, “Ian Swan really went above and beyond all expectation by setting up such a fun night for his guests and a successful fundraiser for our charity.
Paradise Kids would like to acknowledge Mano’s Restaurant, Marriott Resort and Spa who offered two prizes that included High Tea for 4 and overnight accommodation for 2, Golden Door Spa, Heli-tours, SCIBS Show tickets, Seabob family experience, Exception tuition & resumes, Whale Watching Tickets from down under submarines, Darcy Arms Voucher, A Shimano aqua tip rod and Sunset cruise for 6 on board the luxurious Crystal Blue Yacht. Plus CTJ Diamonds and Jewellery, Beyond Capital Asset Management, Seatech Marine, Rescue Me From It, Ultra Marine Products and ACT Nuts and Bolts who all contributed to the night's raffle prizes.
The evening’s success really was a testament to Ian Swan’s great business nous as well as his big heart. A fine example of doing well whilst doing good.
